Canyon Lake Water Service Company and San Jose Water (CLWSC) continue to frustrate the goals of the Coalition for Equitable Water Rates (CEWR) and the Texas regulatory process by suddenly modifying data submitted in its original application filing.

The GVTC Community Center Auditorium in Spring Branch played host to over 180 CLWSC ratepayers as they listened to representatives of CEWR provide details of CEWR’s protest to CLWSC’s proposed 71% water rate increase.

Customers of Canyon Lake Water Service Company (CLWSC) were surprised to see that the expected 38% increase had not been applied to their December water bill. No notification regarding the delay was provided to CLWSC customers.

Despite being denied a customer list from which to identify potential protesters, the CEWR announced it had already attained protest signatures from approximately 25% of CLWSC’s entire customer base, far exceeding the required 10% of ratepayers.

The Coalition for Equitable Water Rates announced a special petition signing to protest the proposed 71% water rate increase by Canyon Lake Water Service Company.

Despite acknowledged errors in the notice sent to its customers, Canyon Lake Water Service has informed the majority of its customers that they will not be altering the effective date for their water rate increases.
