BIG ARTS launched a program for community theater and staged play readings of works by playwrights in southwest Florida. All readings will feature the Community Players and other local talent, volunteering onstage and backstage.

BIG ARTS Community Players will hold four play readings at 7 p.m. Sunday, January 27, at Herb Strauss Theater, 2200 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel, Fla. Readings will feature local volunteer actors. Tickets: adult $12, for tickets call (239) 395-0900.

BIG ARTS invites local talent to submit plays for 2012-2013 Community Theater play reading series, deadline is Monday, April 2. To submit, e-mail script to info@BIGARTS.org. Put “Community Theater Play Submission” in the subject line.

Auditions for two full-length plays to be performed at BIG ARTS Herb Strauss Theater, actors needed are: one man, one woman 25 - 60 yrs old, and two men, one woman 20 - 40 yrs old. Shows are in May and July. Auditions are 2 PM Sunday, March 18.

Sunday, January 22, BIG ARTS will host auditions for play readings. Auditions will be cold readings, at Schein Performance Hall, 900 Dunlop Road, Sanibel. Sign-in will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m., and auditions will be held until 4 p.m.
