Bellevue-based financial services firm Guidant Financial Group, Inc., has been named one of the “Best Companies to Work For” in 2007 by Washington CEO Magazine and is listed among the top-15 small businesses in the publication.

Whether the U.S. unemployment rate climbs or falls, it remains high enough to create ongoing anxiety for those facing the possibility of company downsizing and layoffs. Displaced workers are now launching their dreams of self-employment.

This expansion is indicative of the nation’s expanding interest in the utilization of retirement funds for investment outside of traditional stocks and bonds and into real estate, and funding a new business venture.

Many displaced workers no longer trust the security of their jobs. Within industries in crisis, people are turning to nontraditional ways to gain financial stability. The concept of self-directed IRAs is still unknown to the investors.

Guidant elected to contribute money as well as time and effort to Eastside Rebuilding Together. So when the organization scheduled April 28-29 as an 11-project weekend, Guidant was one of the first companies in line.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has selected Guidant Financial Group of Bellevue, WA, the winner of the Small Business of the Year Award for the Northwest Region of the United States.

Guidant Financial Group’s chief executives David Nilssen, CEO, and Jeremy Ames, president, have been selected as the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) National Young Entrepreneurs of the Year for 2007.
