The Salem Jazz and Soul Festival will begin its SJSF/Berklee Summer Series in Derby Square, Salem, on Saturday, May 11, with a concert featuring the Berklee Bob Marley Ensemble, directed by Matt Jenson.

In support of his new CD, “In My Mind/In My Heart,” Boston-based R&B and soul singer Jesse Dee will headline “Rhythm, Blues and Beats,” the Salem Jazz and Soul Festival’s 2013 spring fundraiser at 43 Church, April 27, 9 p.m.

The event kicks off Jazz Appreciation month, April, and is put on in partnership with the City of Salem. Salem Five, a major festival sponsor, has donated the room and the concert is free to the public.
