Twenty-two small Missouri businesses will be honored at an awards banquet Jan. 30 in Jefferson City for their outstanding achievement in business management, government contracting, job creation and revenue generation.

An innovative approach to a community and economic development project has been nationally recognized by the University Economic Development Association (UEDA) with the 2012 Award of Excellence.

Rebecca Evans, director of the Northwest Missouri State University Small Business and Technology Development Center, St. Joseph, has been named the state's top counselor by the national Association of Small Business Development Centers.
