For more than a year, the Triangle’s corporate and community leaders, educators and benefactors have been working behind the scenes to build support for Wake Tech’s major gifts campaign, called “The Ripple Effect.”

The newest building on Wake Tech’s Northern Wake Campus received LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), verified by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI).

Mort Congleton, Wake Tech’s Senior Vice President of Development and Executive Director of the Wake Tech Foundation, will serve as president of the Board of Directors for the Council for Resource Development (CRD) in Washington, DC, for 2013.

Wake Tech Community College hosted commencement exercises for fall 2012 graduates today in the gymnasium on Main Campus. More than 500 students received degrees and diplomas in two ceremonies. Graduates ranged in age from 19 to 58.

As Wake Tech prepares for its 50th anniversary, the college is launching a new brand identity to reflect the impact it has had and continues to have on the region. Wake Tech partnered with VisionPoint Marketing of Raleigh to develop the new brand.

The Bank of America Charitable Foundation has announced a $20,000 contribution to “The Ripple Effect,” Wake Tech’s major gifts campaign. The funds will expand BOA’s support for students transitioning out of GED and Adult High School programs

Wake Tech has been awarded the largest grant in its 50-year history: $2.95 million for a new training program that will be the first of its kind in the nation. The federal funds will allow Wake Tech to develop training in business analytics.

Wells Fargo has announced a $250,000 donation to the Wake Tech Foundation’s major gifts campaign, called “The Ripple Effect.” The generous gift will fund the Wake Tech/Wells Fargo Center for Entrepreneurship.

Wake Tech instructor Timothy Lucas has received Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification from the Aveta Business Institute. Six Sigma is a highly-regarded approach to quality improvement and increased efficiency in business practices.

For the second time ever, Wake Tech has exceeded all of the benchmarks for success set by the North Carolina Community College System.
