Camp for adults with disabilities breaks barriers to independence

Sen. Lizbeth Benacquisto joined dozens of volunteers at the first Trailways Camp in LaBelle, Fla. The camp for adults with special needs is a partnership between Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida and the Robert V and Benjamin G Miller Fund.

Elisabet Stadelman will provide job search and resume assistance, skills training, and family strengthening assistance at the Goodwill Job-Link center in LaBelle, Florida.

Palmetto Ranch is an income-sensitive, independent-living community designed specifically for the needs of individuals with physical disabilities. It is Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida's first housing community in Hendry County.

Florida Community Bank, a division of Premier American Bank N.A. recently presented the Southwest Florida MicroEnterprise Project with a check for $1,500. The Community Reinvestment Funds will help program graduates with the cost of course materials.
