Friday April 13th, Mississippi’s Flowood born, Laurel raised and USM graduated native son Eddie Beasley will return to his home state for the 13th Annual Crossroads Film Festival to be held in Jackson through April 15th.

YAC’s “Best Seat in the House” provides 20 Mississippi artists with a vintage chair to decorate, deconstruct, and transform into a piece of artwork to raise funds for the continued renovation of a community arts center.

The Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation (SCHF) of Vicksburg has been awarded a $17,800 grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission (MAC). This grant is a portion of the $1.5 million in grants the Commission will award in 2011-2012.

This exhibition is organized by the Mississippi Museum of Art. The exhibit will open in the Academy Building on Tuesday, July 5th with a reception from 4:00pm-6:00pm. The exhibit will continue until August 5th during regular business hours.

The Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation (SCHF) is honored to receive a proclamation from the Board of Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Vicksburg, Mississippi declaring October as Southern Cultural Heritage Month.

The SCHF will present the classic “OH, MR. FAULKNER, DO YOU WRITE?” as a dinner theater performance on October 1, 2009. The play is John Maxwell’s one-man show based on the life of Mississippi’s own, William Faulkner.

This photo exhibit, featuring portraits of fifty individuals chronicled by the Southern Foodways Alliance Oral History Initiative, celebrates the unsung and uncelebrated men and women whose work has helped keep alive Southern Foodways.
